Stardust 2024–2026

As Lead Product Designer at Stardust, a privacy-first period and pregnancy tracking app, I combining data-driven research with the brand’s signature mystical aesthetic. In addition to creating and maintaining the app’s Design System, I was responsible for streamlining core user flows and designing features that boosted premium conversions.

By balancing playful UI with functional optimization, I delivered cohesive, delightful experiences that stayed true to Stardust’s community values.

One of my core responsibilities once brought into Stardust was creating and maintaining the Design System — something that was only vaguely used prior to my revamp.

Taking small steps that elevated the brand and increased accessibility, I implemented a color system that aimed for AAA standards, and refined the typography and component systems to create more coherence from screen to screen. Product Design Guidelines were established to ensure components, spacing, color and typography were being used consistently and appropriately cross-app, and new icon libraries were created to ensure the UI felt like it belonged in the broader Stardust Universe.

Stardusts’ onboarding for new users was in need with a refresh after establishing the Design System. Working first to simply update the UI of the existing flow, the team shifted gears to build out new onboarding tests that made the process more beautiful and less stressful.

The first full feature I was responsible for designing, users’ ‘Vibe Today,’ uses tracked health data to give an energy reading for their day, and includes sleep and activity metrics. Working with our engineers, we were also able to make a predictive energy reading using only the users’ phone without wearables to track sleep (if granted permission to do so).

A core feature desperately needed and often requested by Stardust users is an easy-to-view historical record of symptoms and health data logged in the app.

The data tab, a entirely new feature for the app, was conceived to house a timeline of user data in addition to showing potential cycle flags and trends along with an entry point to the users’ most recent Cycle Recap.

Cycle Recap, a story-style feature showcasing users’ data and insights from their most recent cycle, features beautiful graphics and narrative storytelling throughout in a sharable format.

Stardust has a unique ‘Orbit’ tab where users can check in on their friends vibes, sync their cycles, grow their universe and visit their profiles for deeper compatibility info.

In addition to updating the Orbit tab to make viewing your loved ones’ cycles more streamlined, I was responsible for mapping out the UX and designing a new functionality for the app — follow requests. Bolstering the app’s security, users now have to make a two-way street connection in order to view each others’ potentially sensitive health data.

I was responsible for many other big and small feature launches across the app during my tenure at Stardust — from updating the UI of the daily moon transit screen to creating a new subscription gifting flow, every day was a surprise as to what the team wanted to tackle next. I was even fortunate enough to create some high-profile pieces that live out in the physical world.
